Since 2013, attorney Phillip Steck has been a member of the New York State Assembly. In his Assembly position, Phillip Steck works to help people in his district, and recently secured thousands of dollars in funding for the YWCA of Schenectady.

Thanks to the $12,500 in additional funding, the YWCA of Schenectady will be able to better support victims of domestic violence and their family members. This YWCA houses Schenectady County’s only licensed domestic violence shelter, and operates a 24-hour hotline for victims of domestic violence. Whether victims need assistance with navigating the court system or Child Protective Services, additional counseling, or assistance during the holidays, these funds can get them the help they need.

This money will also help support the YWCA Economic Solutions (YES) Program, which supports victims of domestic violence and women who have been homeless as they rebuild their lives. The YES Program provides life skills counseling and assistance with stress management. It also offers employment exploration opportunities, enabling participants to better equip themselves for the next stage of their lives.
